The Duo

The Duo Sax&Orgue

A sound like you've never heard before! Since 2005, the duo W, composed of saxophonist Vincent Barras and organist Vincent Thévenaz, has been touring Europe to share an original repertoire and to bring a breath of fresh air. Going off the beaten track, they transcribe and revisit works from the Renaissance to the present day by exploiting the possibilities of their instruments in an innovative way, crossing styles and eras to create a dialogue between old and new music, traditional or popular, classical, jazz, variety... Expression, emotion, sonority, rhythm, energy, these are just some of the elements that come out of their inventive, colourful, hair-raising arrangements.

Nearly one hundred concerts have seduced both specialists and the general public. They take great care with the dynamics of the programme and the contact with the audience. Their first CD recording "W" in 2007, which was released in a thousand copies and heard on several radio stations, was followed by the album "Latin Bach" in 2012, a musical encounter between Bach and Piazzolla, which was a great success. The new recording "Contrastes" on the Klarthe label in 2020 marks the evolution of this journey and the continuation of their musical explorations. But their approach is never static and new arrangements and combinations are regularly added to their repertoire. Thus, from 2022, they will offer, in addition to the organ, the combination of saxophone and harmonium, which opens up new sound worlds and access to different concert venues.

Music to be enjoyed without moderation!
